Where’s The Food

At FareShare North East we’re supporting FareShare UK as they launch their manifesto ahead of the General Election, asking “Where’s The Food?”

This is particularly relevant for us at FareShare North East, as we are running out of food while viable surplus food is needlessly discarded nationwide.

The manifesto outlines a strategic roadmap aimed at dismantling barriers to food redistribution. It calls for collaborative efforts among the government, industry stakeholders, and the third sector to prioritize feeding people over waste.

The benefits of effective food redistribution are manifold. Beyond combating food insecurity, it promises to significantly curb the environmental impact of food waste and save considerable costs for the UK economy.

Developed in consultation with charities, food industry leaders, and experts in academia, FareShare’s manifesto proposes a comprehensive plan with both immediate and long-term objectives.
