Good Food to Good Causes

We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets and farms. This food is nutritious, in date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it to charities, schools, food banks, community pantries and fridges and other organisations serving vulnerable people throughout the North East.

We have 2 warehouse depots in Newcastle and Middlesbrough, serving the vast North East region across Newcastle, Sunderland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Durham, and Teesside. We are one of 32 Regional Centres, working as a network across the country with FareShare UK, a national charity.

The North East has proven to be particularly susceptible to food poverty. Our food is a vital lifeline for vulnerable people in our community. Children and families, people on low incomes, people who have lost their jobs, the homeless, refugees, domestic abuse survivors, the elderly and key workers, all rely on our food. We are proud to collaborate with over 221 community organizations and charities in various ways to offer food support.

These organisations may provide food, advice, or residential food services. Some distribute canned and packaged goods for emergency food parcels in the community, while others utilize the food to prepare shared meals, accompanied by wraparound care, including advice and support for their community.

We are dedicated to empowering the charities we work with to maximize their impact and amplify their ability to address the multifaceted challenges associated with food poverty.
