Great North Runners raise over £5,000!
A huge shout-out to FareShare North East’s 13 heroic runners in the 2025 Great North Run this year, raising over £5,000! Special highlights include:...
FareShare North East is the largest food redistribution charity in the North East. We take good-to-eat surplus food from the food industry and divert it to over 260 charities and community groups, reaching thousands of people each week. By making good use of a huge amount of food every year, we save it from being thrown away and help to combat climate emissions.

At FareShare North East, we redistribute good-to-eat, surplus food to a wide range of charities and community groups across the region. This includes school breakfast clubs, lunch clubs for older people, homeless shelters, and community cafés.
These organisations use the food to support their communities, including individuals and families navigating difficult times, while saving thousands of pounds each year. That’s money they can reinvest into essential services like advice, housing support or wellbeing activities.
By providing quality surplus food, we help our members continue their vital work — reducing food waste, strengthening communities, and making a lasting local impact.

In the North East, one in four children live in food poverty, and many parts of the region fall within the worst 30% nationally for income deprivation. Ongoing pressures – from cuts to public services to changes in benefits – mean this challenge is unlikely to ease. That’s why FareShare North East’s mission to rescue surplus food and deliver it to frontline organisations is more vital now than ever.
We at Barnard Grove School feel very lucky to be a part of something so positive at this very difficult time and to see the impact on those who need it most.
With the food provided by FareShare North East, we have been able to support refugee families and children in the community with door to door distribution of food and essential supplies. This has helped to mitigate the harsh impact of the COVID-19 and the stay at home measures.

We love FareShare North East. There is a real “buzz” when the FareShare delivery is received, with everyone excited to see what is in the boxes. This is a very important way [The Eco Shop] to continue to support people and maintain connection with them during this crisis and profits from the shop through the year mean this service can be provided to families for free.
Park End Primary
Thanks to FareShare North East I am still able to get vital food parcels out to our nursery families every Thursday.
Sunshine Day Nursery
It’s brilliant what FareShare gives us… Before FareShare, our foodbank relied mostly on donations from the community and whilst it’s brilliant to have their support, with FareShare we’re able to provide a wider range of items.
Hebburn Helps
People here are very proud. By the time people ask us for help, they need it immediately, as they will have very little. The food from FareShare North East is allowing us to produce even more parcels
Engage Ltd
The support we get from FareShare North East is integral to the work we do, as are the donations and pledges we receive.
